The Hague, The Netherlands – 9 July 2021 – WTF Productions announces the “The Resurrection of the Knitting Witch” video will advance to tonight’s Finals of the Heavy Metal Knitting World Championships 2021. The finals will be live-streamed 9 July 2021 at 18:00 (Finnish time) from Joensuu, Finland. The rules are simple: create a 1 minute video, using the organiser’s music, with at least one of the performers knitting. The highly anticipated video will be publicly released during the event and then on YouTube.

“You have to see it to believe it. Niels Weerheim gets full credit as the creative force behind the Knitting Witch and Wille Vaskimo created the set and the intense atmosphere”, said Cathy Delhanty, Chairman and founder of Stichting Wool for Warmth, a Dutch charity that knits for homeless people. “They captured the black magic of what we do: knitting thousands of black hats and scarves for the homeless men in The Netherlands.”

The contest organisers have confirmed that 12 finalists of the Heavy Metal Knitting Online World Championship 2021 come from 8 countries and have been selected from 20 submissions. Originally intended to be a live heavy metal event in Finland, the event will be livestreamed due to the travel restrictions imposed by the Corona Virus.

“This project gives me a creative boost, a way to break out of the corona-slump and my painting energies are recharged”, says abstract artist Niels Weerheim. Wille Vaskimo, geometric artist and videographer added “The crazy combination of knitting, heavy metal music, and a contest offered an unusual challenge, a way to stretch our creative legs and help a charity at the same time.”
