Happy New Year to our Wool for Warmth Community!

Since our last update, a lot has happened at Stichting Wool for Warmth. So far this winter season (which started on October 10), we have donated 2,240 hat and scarf sets and 45 bags of second hand clothing. That is 112,000 hours of knitting!

We were able to help:

  • Sitchting de Binnen Vest (Leiden)
  • Rosa Manus (Leiden)
  • Leger des Heils (Leiden)
  • Stichting Perspektief (Delf)
  • Stichting Barka (Den Haag)
  • Zij aan Zij (Voorburg)
  • Achterban Werkt! (Den Haag)
  • Straat Pastoraat (Den Haag)
  • Aandacht Centrum (Den Haag)
  • Straat Pasotraat (Leiden)
  • Noodopvang (Den Haag)
  • Trust Your Wings (Haarlem)
  • Stichting Stoelen Project (Amsterdam)

Thank you to all of our knitters who made these items to donate and all of the volunteers at our office who helped organize, coordinate, and deliver these donations. It was a lot of work, but we are just getting started! The first donations of 2024 have already been made.

Other important things to note:

  • Our Brei Borrel (knitting & drinks) will take place every other Friday afternoon from 3pm onwards. In the month of January, that will be Friday January 12 and Friday January 26. Feel free to drop by, meet some new people, and bring something to eat or drink for the table!
  • Our official opening hours are Monday to Friday from 1 to 5. Feel free to call in advance if you want to make an appointment to come to our office to bring donations, see what we are up to, or help us and volunteer!
  • Finally, we are still in desperate need of volunteers at our headquarters in The Hague. Help in all areas is needed – human resource management, social media, project planning, general help, sorting and winding wool donations, sewing lapjes for blankets together, and more! Please reach out if you have some time to spare to volunteer!
