September 2023 Update

September was an eventful month for Wool for Warmth! With everyone back from vacation, we were back in full swing, receiving hundreds of lovely hand knitted items from our knitters and clubs. This month has been a lot of prep work for our busy season, which officially begins on October 10, International Homeless Day. On this day, we will do our first big donation to a number of shelters in Leiden. This will mark our first distribution ever in Leiden! We have counted over 1500 sets in our storage in The Hague and have been in contact with shelters to get these items out to them.

In other news, we were granted the opportunity to take part of the first ever Stadmakers Festival in The Hague, where we spread the word of our organization and offered knitting
lessons to participants.

Other important things to note:

  • Our Brei Borrel (knitting & drinks) will take place every other Friday afternoon from 3pm onwards. In the month of October, that will be Friday October 6 and Friday October 20. Feel free to drop by, meet some new people, and bring something to eat or drink for the table!
  • On Wednesday afternoons, we host weekly knitting lessons. If you are looking to learn
how to knit, or improve a certain skill, stop by our office.
  • Our official opening hours are Monday to Friday from 1 to 5. Feel free to call in advance if you want to make an appointment to come to our office to bring donations, see what we are up to, or help us and volunteer!
  • Finally, we are still in desperate need of volunteers at our headquarters in The Hague.
Help in all areas is needed – human resource management, social media, project planning, general help, sorting and winding wool donations, sewing lapjes for blankets
together, and more! Please reach out if you have some time to spare to volunteer!
